cing road and air traffic intensification, the last quiet place is your house. Thanks to the usage of acoustic glass made from two different glass thickness, you can reduce the wave (30 to 39 Db Rw). Some special gas allows an increased sound insulation performance (35 to 44 DbRw).
Noise is a factor that pollutes our environment and can damage our health. Bieber sound-reduction glass offers a way of effectively combating and solving noise problems.
The sound-reduction effect is achieved by means of an asymmetrical construction, special gas filling, and the use of cast-resin glass or the use of sound-reduction foils. At the same time Bieber products improve thermal insulation because they are produced with standard iplus neutral E coated basic glass. The Bieber sound-reduction and insulation glass system thus gives us double insulation; it helps solve the problem of noise and makes an appreciable reduction in heating costs.
Bieber Accoustic Windows main features : – 2 EPDM Weatherstrip – Special insulated wood section minimum 2 3/4″ thick – Special glass configuration (see table) – Prefinished – Superior hardware (multipoint locks) Note : Bieber produces custom size inswing and tilt turn wood windows with optional aluminum clad.
What does Rw dB mean in acoustics? The ability of a material to absorb sound is assessed in the laboratory by taking measurements over a recognized range of frequencies. The average of these measurements is expressed as Rm or the Mean Sound Reduction Index. When adjusted for the ear’s response to loudness it is termed Rw or Weighted Reduction Index and is expressed in dB or deciBels. DeciBel is a unit of measurement of the loudness or strength of a signal.
The “average efficiency” of a sound barrier at blocking sound can be represented by a single number rating called STC or Rw.
STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a noise barrier rating used in USA: it is a measurement of how much noise will be prevented from passing through a material or construct. A STC of 60 (in a laboratory) would stop 60 dB of noise. Example: if we have a noise source of 100 dB SPL on one side of the sound barrier, and the barrier is rated STC 60, you get 40 dB SPL residual noise on the other side.
Rw (Weighted Sound Reduction Index) is a noise barrier rating used in Europe: it is similar to STC, however it is more restrictive due to different weighting of low frequency transmission. Therefore it is possible that a wall achieving 55 STC might only be rated 53 Rw.
